FAQs

Who is the Budget "Hack" for?

To put it simply - everyone! From experienced bloggers to those with a keen interest but haven't put pen to paper before, all are welcome.

Policy@Manchester team members will be on hand throughout the day to give practical blogging advice and your written or video responses will be published on the official Manchester Policy Blogs site.

There will also be Manchester academics and researchers on hand who can give further detail on aspects of the Budget being discussed, as well as Policy@Manchester briefing documents on a range of key policy areas.

What can I bring into the event?

Please bring a (charged) laptop or tablet with you to work on. Charging points will be available, but limited.

Feel free to bring any snacks or drinks you may want, in addition to the sandwiches and refreshments provided.

How do I submit my Budget Hack blog to Manchester Policy Blogs and where will it appear?

Once written all blogs uploaded to our Manchester Policy Blogs site. On completing your blog or video post please email to policy@manchester.ac.uk with “Budget Hack” in the subject line, to be included on our ‘Budget Hack’ event stream. We will upload your piece and let you know the URL as soon as it is published. Please then share with colleagues and friends and don’t forget to tag in @UoMPolicy if you are on Twitter!

The Policy@Manchester team may make minor edits to the format/layout of posts (to fit with our publication style) but will not make editorial changes. We also need to reserve the right not to publish any content that we believe risks breaching legal or University guidelines, such as libel – if that is the case, we will communicate those concerns to the author and work on securing editorial revisions.

Can I work as part of a team?

Yes! If you prefer to work with a small group of colleagues or friends this is fine. This is a shared work space and we encourage collective thought!

I work better in a quiet space - will there be the facility for this?

Although we are promoting a collective and lively space for idea sharing we know that some people prefer to get their heads down to write. There will be a designated quiet space within the venue for this purpose.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

If you have any questions about the Budget "Hack", please contact policy@manchester.ac.uk

Please also let us know of any access or dietary requirements in advance of the event.
