Sally Sykes announced as new Director of Communications and Marketing

Sally Sykes has been appointed as the University of Manchester’s Director of Communications and Marketing.

Sally is a senior public relations, communications and marketing professional with significant experience across the public, private and not-for profit sectors. She was appointed to the Board of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in 2006 and elected its President in 2012.

Sally will join us from the West London Mental Health NHS Trust, where she is currently their Director of Communications and Engagement. Her other public sector roles have included working as an Executive Director of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (in London and Manchester) and also the Health and Safety Executive. 

Sally has very strong connections to the North West, having attended school in Altrincham, worked in a number of North West based roles, including at Manchester Airport as their Head of Press and Public Relations and serving as a member  of the North West Advisory Board of the Business in the Community charity from 2006-2012. Her first ever position after graduating from Leeds University was as a Conference Officer here at the University of Manchester. 

Sally will join us in June 2018. In the meantime, Michael Greenhalgh will continue to act as Interim Director of Communications and Marketing.
