Cycle shelter checks

20 Dec 2017

Got a bike on campus? Not used it for a while? Better check it's not been tagged

Bike shelters

To ensure that we continue to provide adequate cycle parking provision on campus, every six months a check of bike racks and bike shelters is carried out. This is used to identify those that appear to have been left unused for some time.

The winter campus sweep is currently underway so unless the owners come forward before the 19th January using the email address on the tag, the bikes will be kept in storage for three months before being donated to charity.

To highlight the problem this can cause, during the last campus sweep in the summer, one particular secure bike shelter had 27 bikes identified as abandoned – that's 27 cycle spaces that couldn’t be used by others who use their bike regularly.

Please don’t abandon your bike or use the University shelters as long term storage.
