Manchester 2035 – Help your team shape our future in phase 2

Manchester 2035

Dear colleagues,

As people managers, you play a critical role in the success of our Manchester 2035 strategy . We’re moving into Phase 2 - testing bold, cross-cutting proposals - and we need your support to ensure every team has a voice in shaping the University’s future.

1. Townhall with Professor Duncan Ivison

  • Date & Time: Monday, 17 March, 1–2pm
  • What to expect: Updates on how we’re strengthening our foundations, an overview of the leaps, and ways to get involved.
  • Book your place now and share the invitation with your team. A full announcement will be sent to all staff on 10 March.

2. Manchester 2035 Ideas Lab (1 April  – 11 April)

  • Pop-up exhibition: Nancy Rothwell building, 10am–4pm daily;

* Book a slot for your team and attend as a group.

* Drop in any time if scheduling a team slot isn’t possible.

* Professor Duncan Ivison will be at the Ideas Lab on 4 April 10am -11:30am, so book early to secure your team's slot.

  • Why it matters: This is a hands-on opportunity for your teams to explore emerging proposals, discuss potential impact, and shape our collective direction.

3. Digital Ideas Lab

  • Launch date: 31 March
  • Purpose: If colleagues can’t attend the pop-up - or want to dive deeper - this online hub will feature the same interactive content, allowing your team to share feedback, questions, and ideas from anywhere.

Your voice matters. Your leadership is vital in ensuring that every voice is heard. We encourage you to make these engagements a priority - block out time for you and your team visit to the Ideas Lab, and spread the word about our digital platform. By facilitating both in-person and online participation, you’ll help us gather the broad input we need to make Manchester 2035 a success.

Thank you for your continued commitment and support.
