Get ready for Cycle September
02 Sep 2024
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we are encouraging colleagues to register for Cycle September to be in with a chance to win prizes and help the University top the leaderboards!
Cycle September is a fun and free biking challenge organised by Love to Ride, open to cyclists of all levels. This initative is a fantastic opportunity for us to embrace sustainable travel and focus on the benefits of cycling.
Why participate?
- Win prizes: by participating, you are in with the chance to win exciting prizes, listed on the Love to Ride website. The more you cycle, the better your chances.
- Health benefits: cycling is a great way to stay active and improve both your physical and mental wellbeing.
- Sustainable travel: by choosing to cycle more this month, we can reduce our carbon footprint and support the University's Environmental Strategy. Every mile cycled helps decrease CO2 emissions, making our campus and community greener and healthier.
Join colleagues in this friendly competition, share your cycling stories, and motivate each other!
How to get involved
- Register with Love to Ride.
- Cycle anywhere, anytime during September - whether it's a short distance or a long weekend adventure, every journey counts.
- Track your rides - use the Love to Ride platform to log your rides, track your progress, and see your carbon savings.
Our sustainability strategy
The University’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy was published in 2023, outlining our commitment to sustainability. We aim to achieve zero direct carbon emissions by 2038, surpassing net zero, and are committed to addressing global challenges through research, education, public engagement, and responsible campus operations.
To achieve this, we must continue to embed sustainability practices into all systems and processes across campus. There are a wide range of opportunities for colleagues to get involved in sustainability initiatives – these can be found on our “Get Involved” webpage.
