If you’re looking for ways to shake things up in 2025, AHEP’s MSc in Higher Education Management and Leadership, delivered in partnership with Nottingham Trent University Business School, could be just what you need to make it your best year yet.

It provides a pathway for staff working in management and administrative roles in HE with a progressional route to support their career development. The course enables participants to develop their knowledge, skills and abilities as HE professionals, promoting excellence in management and administration in higher education.

Nottingham Business School delivers this course through an exclusive partnership with AHEP. The course will offer the opportunity for associate membership to AHEP and, on completion of the MSc, participants will be eligible to apply for Accredited membership of AHEP, with the potential to upgrade to Fellow, depending on experience.

This masters blends peer-to-peer learning with expert guidance, helping you build leadership skills while exchanging ideas and experiences with colleagues.

You’ll develop the expertise to lead with impact, advance your career while opening doors to even higher recognition. With a clear progression from PgCert and PgDip, this course is more than a qualification; it’s your path to inspiring excellence in higher education.


*Please note that the MSc is a staged award, and students can opt to study at the PgCert and PgDip level only if they wish.

What’s involved

  • In this programme, students will engage in a dynamic educational experience through online and collaborative learning, research and various interactive methods.
  • Certificate Stage: Learners are supported by AHEP mentors within small learning sets as they complete Module 1, "Developing Self and Professional Leadership Practice”, which runs throughout this stage.
  • Diploma Stage: Learners are supervised by members of the course delivery team as they work in consultancy teams on AHEP challenges in Module 5, "Leading Change and Innovation in Higher Education."
  • MSc Stage: Learners are provided with individual supervisors as they devise and implement their research project in Module 6, "Applied Business Project."
