Opportunity to attend the Association of Higher Education Professionals Conference 2025

21 Jan 2025

All Professional Services colleagues are invited to apply for a funded place at the Association of Higher Education Professionals Conference 2025

As part of our institutional partnership with the Association of Higher Education Professionals (AHEP) we have ten funded places at their 2025 Annual Conference in Glasgow Caledonian University from Sunday, 1 June to Tuesday, 3 June 2025.

This year’s conference title is: Is higher education, as we know it, sustainable? The conference will bring together thought leaders, policymakers, academics, and professional services staff for robust discussions, shared insights, and actionable strategies. Throughout the conference, attendees will explore how higher education can evolve to remain a vital and sustainable force for societal good in the face of current and future challenges.

The conference is designed for all higher education professionals, from newcomers to seasoned managers. Whether you are just starting your HE career journey or are a senior leader, you will find valuable insights and practical strategies to navigate the complexities of a sustainable future.

Successful applicants will have access to the “Full attendance package” including:

  • The brand-new Sunday conference event on Sunday, 1 June 2025
  • A choice of working sessions to choose from, providing you the opportunity to learn and connect with other HE professionals
  • Keynote and panel sessions featuring industry leading speakers
  • Plenty of networking opportunities
  • A chance to explore the exhibition area
  • Attendance to the AHEP Conference Dinner on Monday, 2 June 2025.

Funding for travel and accommodation will need to be provided from local staff development budgets so please speak with your line manger before applying. If there are issues with securing this local funding for travel and accommodation and you are keen to apply for a place, please contact us at ahep@manchester.ac.uk.

There are 10 places available in total:

  • Seven places are open to all PS staff
  • Two places are ring-fenced for colleagues at grades 2-5 who have not previously had the opportunity to attend a conference
  • One place is held for the University's AHEP Ambassador; if they cannot attend it will be opened out to all staff.

Colleagues who are allocated a place will be asked to share their learnings from the conference with colleagues e.g. by drafting a blog post or running a lunch and learn session for AHEP members.

AHEP strive to make all their events and offerings as accessible and inclusive as they can and we are keen that these funded places are open to all staff. There are accessible, step-free entrances to all buildings used for the conference, with accessible parking available. There is accessible lift access available throughout buildings, with automatic doors throughout the corridors. Each building also hosts multiple accessible toilets.

If you secure a place and have accessibility requirements, we will endeavour to do everything that we can to support your needs.

To apply for a place please complete the application form on MS Forms by Friday, 7 February.
