Social Responsibility in the Curriculum – applications now open for 2024/25 modules

The Vice-Dean for Social Responsibility and the Humanities Social Responsibility Committee invite proposals for initiatives under the theme of ‘Social Responsibility in the Curriculum’.
The Faculty of Humanities offers funding annually as part of our Social Responsibility in the Curriculum Fund. Any course unit leader or programme director of an undergraduate or postgraduate taught course can submit a proposal, including those who have received an award previously. In all cases the proposal must be for the enhancement of an existing module or programme or the incorporation of explicit social responsibility emphasis in a new module.
The aim is for students to be encouraged to think how their enthusiasm for their subject can communicate, connect or be relevant beyond the immediate demands of their course.
The maximum award that can be applied for is £1,000 per module, although colleagues may ask for additional funds (up to £3,000) if the activity involves multiple modules from the same programme or engages students across multiple programmes.

Applications will be reviewed by a panel convened by the Vice Dean for Social Responsibility. Awards will be announced by early July. Funds must be spent by 31 July 2025.
