Canvas SharePoint microsite is now live!

Your central go-to hub for resources on all things Canvas is now available to access. Find updates, communication documents, and current information all in one place. Faculty-specific pages, training links, and local guidance can also be accessed here.

Sign up for our April open meeting

Our next online open meeting is planned for Monday 7 April (12:00-1:00pm) to provide you with the latest updates and insights on our journey. What else is happening?

Data migration underway

We’ve reached another important milestone with the migration of Blackboard Semester 1 (2024/25) course content well underway. Most content will be available by the end of March for you to reuse when building your Canvas courses.

Semester 2 (2024/25) data migration will begin in June, with content planned to be available by the end of the month. The migration process has been implemented to streamline your course-building process on Canvas.

Canvas Course Unit Standards

These standards have been developed to support you in maintaining high quality when building courses in Canvas. The Canvas Course Unit Standards can be found on the new microsite and will be available to you in the Canvas Help menu from the end of March. Localised guidance tailored to your area will also be available to support you in building your courses.

What do I need to do to prepare?

Get ready to build your courses in Canvas

You will be able to start building your courses from the end of March using the Canvas Course Unit Standards, migrated Blackboard content and available support, helping you get the most out of your materials.

With the Canvas launch on track for September and Blackboard access ending in October 2025, we urge you to prioritise building your courses before the next academic year.

Look out for further communications advising when you can begin rebuilding your new Canvas courses.

Supporting students in the transition

We are asking students to download content from Blackboard before September. Student materials will be migrated from Blackboard; however, their submission and feedback content will not be readily available once access to Blackboard ends in October.

Advising students to download their content now will save them unnecessary work and save time in the future. Keep an eye out for forthcoming information through your local channels and Canvas SharePoint microsite.
