2025 Making a Difference Awards shortlisted entries announced
06 Mar 2025
The Making a Difference Awards for social responsibility recognise and celebrate the positive impact our staff, students, alumni, and external partners are having on communities and wider society.

We received over 130 entries for the 2025 Awards, and the judges had a very challenging task in selecting a shortlist. The quality of the submissions was outstanding, leading to the shortlisting of 37 entries.
The shortlisted entries span nine categories and will go forward to the Making a Difference Awards final on Thursday, 8 May in the University’s Whitworth Hall, where the winners and highly commended will be announced and received their awards. A full list of all the shortlisted entrants for this year’s Making a Difference Awards is available on the social responsibility website.
The Awards event is an opportunity for us all to show our appreciation and celebrate the positive impact that our University community is having on society and the environment.
The event will be hosted by our President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Duncan Ivison, with our Chancellor, Nazir Afzal, presenting the winners and highly commended with their awards. The ceremony will be live streamed on YouTube at 6pm on 8 May.
