Declutter and donate: join our campus-wide stationery amnesty
20 Feb 2025
Over a year ago, Furniture4Reuse started a successful scheme and opened the 'Stationery Store' - accepting donations of unwanted stationery.

From their dedicated stationery reuse hub, they re-distribute stationery (free of charge) to staff, students, local schools, and charities.
The scheme is helping to:
- Reduce waste
- Save money and support good causes
- Reduce the University's carbon footprint
The Furniture4Reuse team recently ran a stationery amnesty in the Beyer building, working in close partnership with House Services.
Building users were encourage to gather together any surplus stationery and take it to a central location in the building. The items were then carefully sorted and taken to Furniture4Reuse for redistribution.
Peter Liddell, Furniture4Reuse Supervisor, said: "We are blown away by the response to the stationery amnesty in the Beyer building, and its success has encouraged us to roll it out across campus. Not only is it important to ensure our office spaces are decluttered, but it helps to reduce waste and encourage sustainable thinking across campus."
How to take part
With spring around the corner, it's the perfect time to declutter your workspace.
We are looking for one person in each building/department to help run a stationery amnesty. We can provide you with posters to promote the scheme, and a cabinet/cupboard to house the stationery.
If you would like to get involved, please email Furniture4Reuse@manchester.ac.uk
