The Evolve programme has launched a new video that highlights the significant benefits to staff and students, brought about by its activities over the last two years.
What is the Evolve Programme?
The Evolve programme was set up to provide the University with stable and highly available IT services that enable our current and future needs, aligning with the ‘Our People, Our Values’ theme of the University’s strategic plan. It has been instrumental in driving significant improvements across various aspects of our IT services including:
- Enhanced PC cluster availability and reduced log-in times: the upgrade of our student computer clusters has significantly increased the availability of PCs, and substantially reduced log-in times, which means more time is available for teaching.
- 24/7 IT health checks: we’ve introduced an IT Operations Centre and round-the-clock IT health checks that identify and address potential issues before they impact staff and students. By fixing problems pre-emptively, we can ensure a smoother and more reliable IT experience for everyone at the University.
- Communication between IT systems: we better understand how our IT systems talk to each other to share data, which means we can provide staff and students with a more efficient service.
- Strengthened cyber security measures: the Evolve programme has implemented a range of measures to make it more challenging for cyber attackers to access our systems. These enhancements protect sensitive information and maintain the integrity of our IT infrastructure.
