Nominations are open for the Volunteer of the Year Awards 2025
29 Jan 2025
Celebrating the very best of volunteering, the awards are open to any undergraduate or postgraduate currently studying at our University and give us the opportunity to recognise those who epitomise what it means to make a difference.

Our University is full of amazing students who alongside their studies give their time to a range of great causes. Now is your chance to recognise their efforts in our annual Volunteer of the Year Awards!
- Make a nomination by Monday 3 March (10am)
Last year’s winners included Yamin (Rachel) Thet, who demonstrated exceptional leadership in the face of adversity due to the military coup in Myanmar. Recognising the need for educational continuity, Rachel co-founded Start Smart, an NGO aimed at sustaining learning and hope among youth. Over 24 free online educational programmes were provided to 7,000+ students in both rural and urban Myanmar in just two and a half years.
This year’s awards will include three categories:
- Student of the Year (undertaking volunteering that benefits the wider community)
- Student of the Year (undertaking volunteering that benefits other students)
- Student Group of the Year
Be inspired by the stories of our past winners and complete your nomination on the Volunteer of the Year Awards website.
