It’s also important to regularly refresh your knowledge of the different forms of phishing and the ways in which you may be able to spot it. Phishing awareness training is essential to protect University data, including valuable research data, as it empowers colleagues and students to recognise and prevent malicious attempts to access sensitive information. This reduces the risk of data breaches and safeguards our digital campus.
The University's Data Protection and Cyber Security training, developed by the Information Governance Office (IGO) and which is part of the refreshed suite of Essential training courses, contains a module on phishing awareness.
The University has a number of measures in place to protect emails, however technology alone is not sufficient, so we all need to understand safe email practices. As a University, we will continue to help you stay safe online and defend against phishing – this will include additional training and simulated phishing exercises.
