Support the Manchester Christmas Dinner today

22 Nov 2024

The Manchester Christmas Dinner is an annual project founded in 2013 by our former Chancellor, Lemn Sissay OBE. It all started as one dinner in Manchester, but has since grown into a UK wide movement.

The vision of the Dinner remains the same: making sure that no Care Leaver aged 18 to 25 years feels alone on Christmas Day.

The team behind the event would like to offer thanks to those who have either donated or volunteered their time to support it, both on the day in the run up – it would not be possible otherwise.

There are two ways to make a gift to support The Manchester Christmas Dinner.

This year, there’s a shortfall of £3,000 to run the event; so, as part of our campaign fundraising, we’re raising money to make it happen. Lots of staff are already showing their support, but we still need to hit our target.

You can also help by buying a gift for a care-experienced young person to open on the day.

There will also be a raffle tour taking place over a number of dates, including:

  • Tuesday, 26 November – Booth Street East building (10.30am-12.30pm)
  • Tuesday, 3 December – Nancy Rothwell building, main entrance (10.30am-2.30pm)
  • Wednesday 4 December - Christies Bistro (11.45am-1.30pm)
  • Friday, 6 December - The Whitworth Art Gallery, upper promenade, just outside the cafe (11am-3pm)

Prizes include a night's stay at the Hyatt, a meal for two at the Hyatt, dinner for six at the Beehive, a handmade quilt, plus Bicentenarygifts and goodies from The Whitworth Art Gallery.

It is £1 for a strip of tickets.
