New finance features launched in My Manchester for students and applicants
31 Oct 2024
In August, a new version of My Manchester returned after the loss of the service last year during the cyber incident. My Manchester has been rebuilt on a new more stable, resilient and secure platform fully supported by IT Services.
We are pleased to announce that the newest features are now live. My Financials, My Bank and Applicant Finance brings both student and applicant features as follows:
- My Financials provides students with a view of what they owe for tuition fees and accommodation as well as a function for payment.
- Applicant Finance allows applicants to pay a deposit or course reservation fee.
- Pre-sessional English Language for applicants, allowing online booking and payment for a course to meet language requirements prior to starting their studies at Manchester.
- My Bank enables students to set up or change a Direct Debit instruction for tuition fees and accommodation payments. My Bank provides students with a quick and easy way to set up a Direct Debit as an option for payment before the second instalment is required in January. This feature was added in September, and we are now actively promoting this alongside the new Finance features.
The cyber incident introduced a number of interim workarounds for our Finance Operations, Student Finance and Student Admissions teams. This involved manualreporting on payments made alongside individually updating the tracking functionality in Campus Solutions. By returning these newest finance features to My Manchester, we can automate these payment processes as well as providing the Admissions team with important information about interested applicants looking to enrol at the University.
Ahead of this new release, students are now asked to sign in using 2-factor authentication or Duo to gain access to all features across My Manchester. This is already a familiar process for all undergraduate and postgraduate taught (masters) students when using applications such as on My Blackboard, Microsoft 365 including University email.
Future releases – look ahead
In the coming weeks, a further release will bring digital Student Support Hubs onto the My Manchester platform. This new feature is being developed to allow students to navigate student support menus and access information about their School Support Hub or Doctoral Academy. More information will be released shortly.
