Great start for AppsAnywhere!

Our new applications streaming software, AppsAnywhere, launched at the beginning of September.
Students and teaching colleagues have begun to use the portal to access all software applications from our IT Services-managed cluster PCs.
We reached our 5000th application launch with over 800 Faculty and student users just two weeks on from the start of teaching for this academic year.
“From our perspective the deployment of AppsAnywhere has been very successful”said our AppsAnywhere business owners, Professor Peter R Green and Professor Caroline Bowsher.
In addition to the flexibility in deploying applications across more cluster locations on campus, this technology gives us a wealth of data and insight into how staff and students are using PC clusters and accessing applications. This will allow us to tailor our services more effectively for users.

Next steps
AppsAnywhere allows more flexible delivery of teaching and learning applications across campus and is the first step towards making them available on various devices including, in the future, personal devices.
To support this, we are now exploring the possibilities around how students and Faculties will access applications on and off campus in future, gathering requirements and designing the solution.
