Sign up for Active Travel Breakfast on Wednesday,16 October 2024

Thinking about getting back on your bike for the new academic year? Fancy walking part of the journey to work? Or even try run commuting? Join us for our Active Travel Breakfast event on Wednesday, 16 October.

The aim of the event is to encourage staff to use active travel to get to campus (walking, wheeling, cycling, running), and then congregate with colleagues over breakfast. Current and new active travellers all welcome. You could even get public transport or drive for some of the journey and have a go at walking, wheeling, cycling or running the rest.

When: Wednesday 16 October, 8:15am-9:30am

Where: Café 65, AMBS ground floor

Who: All University staff (pre-registration essential)

What: Travel actively to campus and meet with colleagues over a free coffee and pastry (or alternative - you can choose from a selection of items at the café, including vegan and gluten free options).

Also happening on campus that day:

  • We will have bike mechanic ‘Dr Bike’ giving free check-ups on your bike: All the sessions are now fully booked, however you can contact leilah.radler@manchester.ac.uk to be added to the waiting list. You can also keep an eye on the ES social media for more Dr Bike sessions throughout the year.
  • Reflexology talk and workshop at 1pm: Learn about the theory and practice of reflexology and techniques on hands and ears to enhance your wellbeing register your FREE place here

Why: There are lots of well documented benefits of active travel including positive impacts on mental and physical health, and improved air quality and carbon reduction. This links into University wellbeing and environmental sustainability priorities. Did we mention the free food?
