New colleague experience surveys for new joiners and leavers
25 Jun 2024
We are launching three new surveys for colleagues to help us understand more about their experiences of working at our University
The new colleague experience surveys will begin to be sent out from Monday, 24 June and are an opportunity for us to listen to colleagues and act on feedback.
The three surveys are:
- New joiner survey – sent to colleagues after their first eight weeks of employment, asking a range of questions about the recruitment and selection experience, reasons for joining our University and their welcome and induction experience;
- One year survey – sent to colleagues after the first year of employment, asking a selection of questions about their experience so far;
- Leavers survey – sent to colleagues 21 days before they leave, asking a range of questions about reasons for leaving, what they are doing next and how likely they would be to recommend the University as a place to work. This survey replaces the existing ‘exit interview questionnaire’
Who will receive the surveys?
The surveys will be for substantive employees (permanent and fixed-term), including those working for UMC.
Those colleagues who have joined us since 1 May 2024 will be sent the joiners survey, those who joined from 1 June 2023 will be sent the one year survey.
How will people receive the survey?
These surveys are being sent to colleagues’ University email account by The People Experience Hub who are specialists in employee engagement and experience. The People Exeperience Hub are administering the surveys on our behalf.
The email address the surveys will come from is surveys@pxemails.com
Will the responses be treated confidentially?
The People Experience Hub are administering these surveys on our behalf. Whilst these surveys are not anonymous, the responses will be treated confidentially.
A small number of colleagues in both the Directorates of People and Organisational Development(P&OD) and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) will have access to the responses.
How will the survey results be used?
This approach means that we will be able to build up a picture of the employee experience over time, rather than through a one off, time limited survey.
The survey responses will be used by leadership teams to inform ongoing conversations and actions to improve the colleague experience.
EDI colleagues will use the data and insight to help evaluate progress against our Charter mark action plans.
High level overview reports of key trends will be available to senior leaders from across the University on a quarterly basis. It will not be possible to identify any individual from these reports.
