Final push for our National Student Survey (NSS) campaign

19 Apr 2024

We’re almost there! NSS 2024 closes on Tuesday 30 April – so please keep promoting the survey to our final year students to help us reach our target response rate.

Students talking at table

Thank you to those of you who have been working hard to encourage our undergraduate finalist students to complete their National Student Survey (NSS).

We are closing in on our target response rate, but we are not there yet so it is important that we maintain our work right up to the closing date to ensure we have feedback from as many students as possible.

The results are used internally to inform improvements to the student experience, and externally to compile University league tables, to inform our TEF submission and inform future students' choice of university/course through the Discover Uni website

The importance of NSS

We use student feedback to make a real impact in our decision making, and it’s important our students understand that they can influence what we do and that their feedback can make real impact.

Continuing to promote the NSS to students

Students who haven’t yet completed their survey will continue to be contacted by IpsosMori, and colleagues from Student Communications teams (Central and Faculty) and Teaching Learning Delivery have ongoing activity.

However, if you teach, advise or support students, you really can help boost response rates because we know that students respond particularly well to messages from people they know and communicate with on a regular basis.

Information, advice and promotional materials for School use can be found on Promoting the NSS pages, on StaffNet. Here, you will also find clear guidance about how to avoid inappropriate influence.

You can also speak with your Faculty Communications team for advice on any local communication plans.

Incentives for students to complete the NSS survey

As a thank you for their time, every student who takes part in the NSS 2024 can enter a prize draw to win one of 17 prizes that include an iPad Air, vouchers and graduation day packages.

Additionally, for each response submitted the University will also make a £2 charitable donation, split equally between the following good causes:

Find out more about the incentives and charitable causes on our NSS StaffNet pages
