Christmas and New Year closure dates: 2023

A reminder that our University will officially close at the end of Thursday, 21 December 2023, and reopen on Tuesday, 2 January 2024

Some buildings and labs may remain open for critical research and essential work. These arrangements are made at a Faculty level, or by the Professional Services Leadership Team (PSLT), and are communicated locally.

Do I need to take the Christmas closure dates as annual leave?

No. Friday, 22 December along with Wednesday, 27, Thursday, 28, and Friday, 29 December 2023 will be classed as University closure days and you will not need to take them as annual leave. Monday, 25 and Tuesday, 26 December are Bank Holidays, along with Monday, 1 January 2024.

  • If you are required to work on a closure day or Bank Holiday you will have different options regarding payment or time off in lieu. This will need to be agreed with your manager in accordance with our Terms and Conditions of Employment

Furniture Store 

The Store will be open as normal on Wednesday, 20 December (12 - 3pm), but will be closed on Thursday, 21 December.

The Store will re-open at 12pm on Wednesday, 3 January 2024.
