Manchester Pride
23 Aug 2023
We're proud to support Manchester Pride, which takes place in the city this weekend
This month we celebrate Manchester Pride, and colleagues are invited to show their support at the Manchester Pride Parade on Saturday, 26 August.
We will be marching under the banner “Inclusivity in HEI - Trans and non-binary rights are human rights” alongside Manchester Metropolitan University, The University of Salford, The Royal Northern College of Music, The University of Law and University of Bolton.
Patrick Hackett, Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer and Executive LGBT+ champion said: “We are committed to ensuring that all members of our University community are treated with fairness, dignity, respect and have a sense of belonging. We aim to reflect this not only in our structures, our priorities and our EDI strategy but also how we interact with each other. Manchester Pride is a celebration of our LGBT+ community and I encourage you all to take part.”
We encourage everyone to sign up to be part of our cheer point. This will be located on the parade route and are a way for you to show your support and give our entry a really big cheer as it passes! All cheer point participants will receive a University of Manchester branded t shirt.
