Real Living Wage increase
29 Sep 2022
Following an announcement by the Living Wage Foundation, the Real Living Wage hourly rate will be increasing by £1 to £10.90, from its existing rate (£9.90)
Our University remains committed to the Real Living Wage and was accredited by the Living Wage Foundation in 2019.
Director of People and Organisational Development Adèle MacKinlay says: “We are therefore proud to update colleagues that the University will be paying the increased Living Wage rate of £10.90 per hour to all colleagues who are:
- On spinal points 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Grade 1; and
- On points 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the casual staff pay scale;
- University catering staff on point 1 of the UMC pay scale
The University also recognises the current cost of living challenges and will therefore be implementing these changes at speed so that colleagues can access the pay increase from 1 October 2022.”
People and OD Operations will update the pay of relevant colleagues automatically and the pay scales on StaffNet will be updated after 3 October.
Completing paperwork or timesheet claims
If you are a manager of staff for whom this increase applies, please ensure that you use the updated pay scales when completing any future paperwork e.g. Post Contract Management Forms, New Appointment Forms and Casual Worker Forms.
Further information outlining our continued support for staff regarding cost of living will be shared over the coming weeks.
