Upgraded Jisc Discovery tool now live

26 Aug 2022

The upgrade includes updates to the dashboard, enhanced features and a better user experience

Flexible Learning

Following the upgrade announcement we shared with you back in July, Jisc have now confirmed completion of the Discovery tool upgrade.

Jisc have published a summary of the enhanced features now available within the Discovery tool, which include updates to the dashboard and how we can use resources, and how they will improve our user experience.

How to access the upgrade

When you first log in via the L&OD ‘Develop your digital skills’ resource, you will now be asked to select from a University of Manchester specific list of staff departments, and (where applicable) subject areas. This change will enable our anonymised institutional data to be even more useful.

If you have used the tool before, you will be asked to log in to the previous version of the tool first. From there, if you are not automatically redirected to the upgraded version, please clear your browser cookies and log in again.

If you have completed surveys in the previous version of the tool, please download your reports as soon as possible before December 2022, when access to these will be removed. You can access these from the upgraded tool’s dashboard, or by logging in to the previous version of the tool.

We will also be updating students about these changes through Student News.

About the Jisc Discovery Tool

The Jisc Discovery tool can help us understand and explore our digital capabilities. The online tool takes the user through a series of questions about their experience and confidence of using different digital tools and approaches – and is available for both students and staff.

  • If you have any questions about the Discovery tool or digital capabilities, please get in touch with Jane Mooney, Academic Lead for Digital Skills and Literacy with the Flexible Learning Programme.
