Reminder: car parks pay-as-you-go hourly rates to increase

A reminder that the changes will be implemented from Thursday, 1 September 2022, plus Car Park Permit Office opening hours during September
From 1 September 2022, pay-as-you-go hourly rates for colleagues using University-managed car parks will increase by an average of 3%.
For this year, the increase will only impact the hourly rates for those on grades 5 and above.
Inflation in the UK has risen significantly in the last few months and is currently around 9.5%. A small increase in our parking charges is necessary to keep pace with this.
The hourly parking rates will change as below:

The reduced rates for those who qualify for a ULEV discount will be:

We continually review our car parking charges and may need to introduce further increases in future, to account for continuing inflation. We will keep colleagues updated and provide full details in advance of any future changes.
Wednesday, 31 August: barriers
While car park charge increases are implemented, there will be no charges made on Wednesday, 31 August and barriers will automatically open.
Aquatics Centre car park power issues
There was a power cut at the Aquatics Centre car park at the beginning of August, which has resulted in damage to some power units, the pay machine on Level 7 and lighting. Alternative top-up machines are available at Dover Street, Booth Street West and Charles Street car parks. We are regularly following up the repair to the power units with Manchester City Council.
Permit Office opening hours during September
Due to annual leave / staff absence, we will be operating the following hours during September 2022:
- Regular opening hours between 1-15 September
- Friday, 16 and Monday, 19 September: 10am-2pm
- Tuesday, 20 September: Closed
- Wednesday, 21 September: 9am-2pm
- Thursday, 22 September: Closed
- Friday, 23 September: 10am-2pm
- Monday, 26 and Tuesday, 27 September: 10am-2pm
- Wednesday, 28 September: 9am-2pm
- Thursday, 29 and Friday, 30 September: 10am-2pm
Normal opening hours will resume from October 2022.
