Celebrating teaching excellence at Manchester
12 Oct 2021
The 2021 Teaching Excellence Awards Celebration took place on 16 September 2021, attended by 90 staff members
Despite the extraordinary circumstances we have all found ourselves in over the past 18 months, we received a truly impressive range of Teaching Excellence Award nominations from colleagues involved in teaching and learning across our University, and this was the first time many of us had been back on campus for months. Fortunately the weather was kind to us, and it was a pleasure to see the Whitworth Hall bathed in sunlight as many colleagues enjoyed the opportunity to catch up or meet new people who share an enthusiasm for teaching, learning and the student experience.
A reception was followed by award-giving, with Professor April McMahon, Vice-President for Teaching, Learning and Students presenting trophies to 11 winning individuals and 11 winning teams. Professor Judy Williams outlined opportunities for the winners’ own personal and professional development, as well as the ways in which they might further contribute to enhancements in teaching and learning, and then it was time for networking, relaxing and tucking into the refreshments.
Commenting on the event, one guest said: “Just the right amount of ceremony, perfect trophies, amazing banners, tasty food and amazing people.”
Our thanks to all nominees for their valued contributions to teaching and learning at our University, and congratulations again to the winners.
The Institute of Teaching and Learning will be sharing more information about the winners’ practice in due course, in the form of blog posts, case studies and other events.
