No programmes to go into Clearing this year

Message from Professor April McMahon, Vice-President for Teaching, Learning and Students
Dear Colleagues,
As you will all know we are now in the midst of the processes that will see a new intake of students join us in the Autumn.
Our highly experienced teaching, learning, recruitment and admissions teams have been working over the past year, building on everything we learned from last year’s admission challenges, while managing another unique array of external factors including an increase in the applications and the impact of Teacher Assessed Grades.
Tomorrow, when we have passed the deadline for the UCAS embargo and A-Level and other results are published, we will be able to tell you more detail about our progress.
It is clear that the University of Manchester is an ever more popular destination for students from the UK and internationally. Applications and acceptances have both been buoyant.
Reflecting that popularity, with more applications, higher acceptances and higher student attainment under Teacher Assessed Grades, we wanted to let you know that will not be going to Clearing for any programmes. This is an important change to what we have done in previous years, but we know it is the right thing to do.
Later today we will be making changes to the University website and will be contacting students who have already expressed an interest in talking to us through Clearing, to inform them of our decision and allow them a little more time to plan their future steps.
Admissions is an all year-round effort, but it is particularly hectic and pressured at this time. I would like to thank everyone from across our University community who are working tirelessly and with great professionalism to enable new students to arrive ready, prepared and enthused in the Autumn.
April McMahon
Vice-President for Teaching, Learning and Students
