Agency worker pay and leave arrangements

Information for agency workers over the Christmas closure period
Over Christmas, the University will be closed from Friday, 18 December 2020 to Monday, 4 January 2021.

The following arrangements will be in place for agency workers whose placements will continue into the New Year:
Agency workers with less than 12 weeks service at the University:
- Accrue 28 days leave (inclusive of Bank Holidays). These agency workers will need to use their annual leave or take unpaid leave for the Bank Holidays and Closure Days.
Agency workers with 12 weeks or more service at the University on short-term assignments (less than 12 months)
- Accrue 31 days leave (inclusive of University Annual Leave Allowance and Bank Holidays). These agency workers will need to use their annual leave or take unpaid leave for the Bank Holidays, however the University will pay them for the Closure Days and payment will be made in January 2021.
- Agency Staff are asked to discuss this with their line managers and agree working arrangements over the Christmas period in line with the information above.
Agency workers with 12 weeks or more service at the University on long-term assignments (12 months or more)
- Already accrue 35 days leave (inclusive of University Annual Leave Allowance, Bank Holidays and Closure Days). They will need to use their annual leave or take unpaid leave for the Bank Holidays and Closure Days.
