The University Caterers Organisation has announced the winners of its awards to more than 400 industry guests during the three-day summer conference at The University of York
The awards were established to help celebrate TUCO members' 'commitment and dedication'. The University of Manchester won the award for innovation for transforming one of its single catering outlets into a bustling food market with individual counters from local independent food traders.
Matt White, TUCO chair, said: “Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. It’s such an exhilarating night and I was delighted to recognise so many of my colleagues for the great work they have been doing at their institutions up and down the country.”
Head of Hospitality and Events Alison Shedlock said: “We’re delighted to have won this award, we are really passionate about offering everyone on campus new and innovative places to eat and The Market does just that.”
The Market is based in University Place and open during term time with independent local food traders V-nam, Nibble NQ, In the Dog Haus, Lush Brownies, MyThai, DoughJo Pizza, Oke Poke, Mancoco Coffee and a vegan deli.
