OneTrust - simplifying GDPR compliance

Making it quicker, simpler and easier for staff to comply with GDPR and manage information risk
This month we’re launching OneTrust, a new online system that will help simplify GDPR compliance by making it easier to record and track risks relating to information management.
Why OneTrust?
We hold and process large amounts of personal data about our current and prospective students, employees, alumni, contractors, research participants and many other individuals. We also work with numerous partners and collaborators across the world that access University data or that share data with us.
OneTrust will allow us to quickly identify high risk activities involving personal data and other types of sensitive information. This will mean it is easier for the Information Governance Office to:
- Advise staff about lawfully using, storing and protecting information.
- Demonstrate that we are fulfilling our GDPR requirements.
OneTrust will streamline and better coordinate GDPR processes. If you are asked to assist with subject access or other information rights requests, you will notice that the way you process them has changed. By using OneTrust the Information Governance Office will be able to better track and report on each request as it progresses through to its completion.
You will also be able to complete an online assessment, which replaces the current Information Governance Risk Review and Information Governance Checklist, through the system.
More information about the launch of OneTrust will be provided in due course, including details of training and guidance.
