Our Staff Survey 2019 charitable donation
15 Apr 2019
Thanks to your responses we’ve raised more than £7500 for local charities
As part of this year’s Staff Survey 2019, the University pledged to contribute £1 to local charities for every survey completed. You were then asked to select the charity you wished to send your donation to. Here’s how much your completed surveys raised:
Big Change Campaign: £4426
City of Trees: £1971
LINK Good Neighbours (Trinity House): £1194
How your donations will be used
Big Change Campaign helps homeless individuals build independent lives away from the streets. Our donation will help to pay for practical items such as the deposit for a home, a training course or clothes for a job interview.
Trinity House, a thriving community centre in the heart of Rusholme, provides a safe and accessible environment for children, young people, parents, carers and the elderly. Thanks to our donation, the charity is developing a community garden in their grounds. The team have already built two raised beds, and began to sow a number of seeds and beans. As well as a food growing group, which will offer its produce for free to the local, their aim is for the currently unused area to become a sociable outside space for the neighbourhood.
City of Trees aims to plant 3 million trees and manage 2,000 hectares of woodland across Greater Manchester. It doesn’t currently receive any other funding, relying solely on donations like ours. On average it costs £10 to plant one tree, so thanks to the Staff Survey 2019, we will be able to enjoy almost 2000 more trees across Greater Manchester.
We look forward to hearing more about how the University has helped these worthwhile local causes in the upcoming months.
