Join the Purple Wave - free entry for scholarship or research fundraisers
27 Mar 2019
We’re offering free entry to all staff, students and alumni who use their walk, jog or run to raise money for University of Manchester scholarships or research
If you’ve ever laced up your running trainers and pounded the pavements, this one’s for you! That means keen walkers, seasoned distance runners, weekend park runners and anyone else who likes a challenge.
What’s the Purple Wave?
On Sunday, 19 May, about 3,000 University of Manchester staff, students and alumni will take part in the Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run. We’ll all wear purple shirts, hence the ‘Purple Wave’.
How to enter for free
To qualify, you just need to raise £100 (or £50 for students) in donations to your chosen cause. We’ll offer you support with your fundraising, so don’t worry if you’ve never done anything like this before.
Register for your free place now
Free registrations close on Friday, 5 April, so don’t wait! You can enter either the 10K or half marathon – free entry applies for both and the fundraising target remains the same regardless.
What can I fundraise for?
You can choose from three causes:
- Undergraduate scholarships for local disadvantaged students
- Postgraduate scholarships for students from developing countries
- Breakthroughs in Medical Research
The Purple Wave is always great fun – it’s a brilliant way to challenge yourself, while helping amazing student scholars reach their potential and fund researchers to make life-changing breakthroughs. We hope you’ll join us.
