My Manchester is back, a digital platform for students

From Thursday 22 August 2024, My Manchester is released back in phases.

A new version of My Manchester for students has returned, after the loss of the service last year during the cyber incident.

The first release removes manual workarounds and significantly reduces the admin burden on colleagues.

This first phase of the new My Manchester enables students to go onto My Profile, access My Library account and check in on news and updates tailored to their studies at the University. A feature for applicants to view draft Confirmation of Access for Study (CAS) and confirm/edit their information is part of the initial phase. This feature will be used by the Admissions teams from October.

From September, a second release will allow students to have access to My Financials and My Bank. These features bring a secure way for students to update their bank details and make payments to the University for things like accommodation and tuition fees.

Future releases

Additional services will return to My Manchester in further staggered releases. We are currently planning for the following features to be released between October 2024 and March 2025:

Autumn 2024 release schedule

  • Applicant finance: Applicants can pay a deposit or course reservation fee; book and pay for pre-sessional English language course
  • Criminal Convictions Declaration: Applicants can declare whether they have any criminal convictions.
  • Student Support Hubs information page: a new feature is being developed to allow students to navigate student support menus and access information about their School Support Hub or Doctoral Academy.

March 2025 release schedule

  • Postgraduate Research Admissions: Academic colleagues review applications and send decision outcomes to PS colleagues.

When a release goes live, there may be brief periods where students cannot access My Manchester or experience errors when trying to use it. This should not last longer than 30 minutes, and we will post a banner in the system during this time to let users know there may be issues.

Further communication to all students and staff will form part of our start of year and welcome week communication with further information on Student News and StaffNet in the coming weeks.

We will keep you updated about further phases which are expected to be released early in the new term.
