As part of the Universally Manchester Festival the Library hosted The Great Library Escape.

To help celebrate Universally Manchester, members of Customer Services, Teaching, Learning and Students and the Student Team collaborated to deliver a Library themed escape room. We sold our entire ticket allocation of 160 across both days. The Great Library Escape involves solving a series of clues (suitable for everyone) which take you on a path of discovery as you learn how to use the Library and the amazing services we offer. This was an updated version for those we have previously offered to MAP students, tailored specifically to members of the public who have varying levels of familiarity with us.
We ran 8 sessions over Friday, 7 and Saturday, 8 June in the group study rooms at Main Library, the perfect break out setting! We greeted those brave enough to take on the challenge in the Main Library foyer and led the groups upstairs to get going. It was great fun for us, but more importantly, it was great fun for everyone who attended! Groups got stuck in, children had a great time searching for puzzle pieces and smaller groups got to meet new people. We were even able to entice a few groups already in the Library into taking part.
It was delightful to get to work with new people and for different teams to work together, and it was amazing to see so many people get involved. It was smooth sailing, and everyone left with a sense of achievement as everyone managed to escape with a University of Manchester tote bag in hand!
