Together24 conference - everything you need to know

We’re just a week away from Together24, our Library staff conference.

We thought it would be useful to share all the information you need about the day in one place, so please keep this email as a handy reference so that you know what’s going on when and where.

The venue

The conference venue is University Place which is number 37 on the campus map.

Registration

Please arrive from 8.30am for a 9.15am start. Registration will close at 9am. Tea, coffee and pastries will be available in The Drum during registration.

Programme

The full conference programme is available on the Library intranet.

The programme has changed to accommodate our keynote speaker, Lou Cordwell OBE, so please take another look so you are up to date.

Lou will be joining us remotely but there will still be the opportunity for Q&A. Patrick Hackett, our Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer will join us towards the end of the day to present our awards, The Rylands.

Breakout sessions

If you haven’t signed up for breakout sessions and would like to join in, there will be information available on the day as to which sessions have spaces.

If you haven’t already done so, download the Eventbrite app so that you can see at a glance which sessions you have booked on to and where you need to go.

The room locations for each breakout session will also be on display in The Drum.

Posters and digital content

In addition to the conference programme we also have poster and digital content displays which colleagues have curated to showcase services, projects and initiatives. Posters and digital content can be viewed in The Drum.

Thank Yous

One of the digital screens in The Drum will display all the Thank Yous you have submitted to share your appreciation of Library colleagues.

NEW Library community notice board

There will be a Library community noticeboard at Together24 to celebrate existing community activities, connect team members and create a space for new things to happen. The Library’s Ways of Working Group will have a stand in The Drum and invites everyone to get involved by adding notices and comments to the board. Further details on the All-Library Staff Team

The Rylands

The University of Manchester Library Awards, The Rylands, will be presented at the end of the conference. Nominations can be seen on the Library intranet.

Breaks

Use the breaks to check out the posters and digital content, chat with colleagues or get some fresh air.

Tea and coffee is available in The Drum and water coolers can be found throughout the building.

Quiet space

If you need a break from the conference bustle, a quiet space is available in Room 3.213, University Place.

Cloakroom

If you would like to leave coats and bags during the day, you can use Room 3.214, University Place (the room will be open all day).

Lunch

We have opted for a fully vegetarian/vegan buffet lunch. Colleagues who have supplied other specific dietary requirements will be catered for individually. Lunch will be served in The Marketplace.

Post-conference refreshments

Pizza and drinks will be available in the Crawford House Library Staff Hub from 5pm when the conference ends. Vegan, halal and special dietary requirement pizzas will be located in the staff room. Vegetarian and meat pizzas will be in the collaboration space. The main entrance to Crawford House is on Oxford Road, if you’re not familiar with the building it is number 31 on the campus map. The Staff Hub space is on the second floor, use the staircase or lift closest to the attendants’ office. If you have any issues with access on the day, contact Michelle on 07974 711959. 

Name badges

Help your colleagues by wearing your Library staff name badge. If you need a new badge, the Library Office can provide you with one.
