An update from James Peters, Curator of University, Scientific and Medical Archives and Heritage Collections
Three of the Library’s scientific archives are now available on-line as part of Wiley Digital Archives’ British Association for the Advancement of Science resource.
These include:
- The notebooks of the physicist James Prescott Joule
- The field diaries of the zoologist Sydney Hickson
- The correspondence and papers of Sir Henry Roscoe, Professor of Chemistry at Owens College
These eminent Manchester scientists were all active members of the British Association. The availability of these digitised archives will be invaluable addition for the study of many aspects of 19th century history. They are available to Library members via Library Search.
