New Director for Sustainable Consumption Institute

Professor Michael Hodgson appointed as new Director for the Sustainable Consumption Institute from 1 August 2025.
We are pleased to announce that Professor Michael Hodson will be taking up the role of Director of the Sustainable Consumption Institute (SCI) from 1 August 2025 for a term of three years.
Michael is Professor of Cities, Innovation and Society within AMBS. Since August 2022 he has been the Research Director in SCI, where he also leads the Cities and Sustainability theme.
Michael’s research focuses on the shape of future sustainable cities, transitions in urban infrastructure and how such processes are governed. He has published and presented widely on this agenda.
On behalf of the Faculty, we would like to thank Professor Matthew Paterson, the current Director of SCI, for his many contributions and hard work in the role over the past 3 years.
