The Students as Partners programme supports academic and Professional Services staff to recruit students to projects which aim to improve an aspect of Teaching, Learning, and the Student Experience at the University.

If you have a project with funding to work in partnership with students and need support to make it happen, then please get in touch - the Student Partnership team can help!
What is ‘Students as Partners’?
The Student Partnership Team facilitates students working collaboratively with staff to improve aspects of Teaching, Learning and the Student Experience. We provide support so that Student Partners and Staff Partners can co-deliver projects as equals. We call this Students as Partners.
Since its inception in 2020, Students as Partners has delivered paid, flexible partnership working opportunities for students, matching over 100 students with a staff member offering a project.
The Student Partnership team provides advice; supports student recruitment, training, and induction;ensures students are paid each month; and provides ongoing support for students and staff involved in partnership working across the institution.
Student Partners are paid at a rate of £12ph + holiday pay (reviewed each August) for approximately 28 hours per month, with work taking place mostly during term time. The roles can be flexible and usually involve a mix of in-person and remote work.
The Student Partnership team offers a wraparound package of support and development including a series of 1-2-1 meetings with each student.
Employing a Student Partner is a great way to:
-
work collaboratively with students to develop teaching and learning;
-
get in-depth insight on the ever-evolving student experience;
-
embed the student voice when developing new initiatives;
-
benefit from added capacityin your team to explore developmental projects.
