New funding available for SHAPE initiatives with Aspect testbed micro-commissions

26 Jul 2024

The Aspect platform for entrepreneurship, commercialisation and transformation in research in SHAPE disciplines has made up to £3,000 available per project.

Earlier this month, Aspect launched testbed micro-commissions, offering SHAPE (social sciences, humanities and the arts for people and the economy) researchers up to £3,000 funding per project to pilot collaborative initiatives between Aspect members.

The University is a founding member of the Aspect platform which supports skills development around commercialisation and impact from SHAPE disciplines.

The platform also offers training resources and national networking opportunities for shared learning.

Which projects can receive funding?

Project themes can be wide-ranging and inspiring. They can cover anything from strengthening connections between academics, professional service staff and non-academic partners to pioneering new practices, guidance and agile thinking to keep pace with the evolving needs of SHAPE research innovation.

How to apply:

  • Head over to the Aspect testbed micro-commisions community via Communities on the Aspect members platform.
  • Answer a few short questions about your proposed project and your collaborators.
  •  Press 'submit' and await feedback.

If you have a brilliant idea but need collaborators, you can also reach out to Aspect who will be able to broadcast your idea across the network.

Alternatively, you can also submit your idea on this spreadsheet and discover what your peers think and how you can join forces.

If you have any questions or would like to brainstorm your ideas, you can attend a drop-in session hosted by Aspect:

  • Wednesday, 31 July, 11.30am – 12 noon
  • Monday, 5 August, 1-1.30pm

The deadline for submissions is Friday, 9 August 2024.
