A change to the Faculty of Humanities Leadership Team
17 Jul 2024
A message from Fiona Devine, Vice-President and Dean
Dear All
As we approach the summer break and before the start of a new academic year, I have news to share with you about an upcoming change in our Faculty Leadership Team.
Professor Martin Evans will be stepping down on 31 October 2024 from his role as Vice-Dean and Head of the School of Environment, Education and Development (SEED). He will be leaving The University of Manchester to take on a new role at the Durham University. By that time, Martin will have completed seven years as Vice-Dean and Head of SEED, having previously been Head of Geography for three years.
I would like to thank Martin for his huge efforts and significant achievements as Vice-Dean and in leading his School during a period of tremendous change, dealing with the challenges created by an ever-shifting environment for higher education and for the UK in general.
Martin will continue to lead his School through the coming months in his usual style, overseeing, I am sure, further successes of which we can be proud. Professor Juup Stelma, SEED’s Director of Teaching, Learning and Students, will take up the Head of School role on an interim basis from 1 November 2024 and we will share further details of the process for recruiting for Martin’s successor in due course.
Regards Fiona
