Strengthening Doctoral Support: Welcoming Anne Marie Walsh as Head of the Humanities Doctoral Academy

The Humanities Doctoral Academy (DA) was formally launched in November 2023 and we are delighted to announce that Anne Marie Walsh joined us as Head of the Doctoral Academy from July. Anne Marie joins from MMU where she was Head of Research Degrees and previously worked at Manchester in the central PGR support team.

The DA has brought together professional service colleagues from across the Faculty into a single structure to support our PGR community across welfare, operations, recruitment, admissions and funding. Whilst this first year has focused on embedding the new team and structures and ensuring key PGR operational support has been maintained, our aim is to now begin more strategic work using the Academy as a platform to drive forward more dynamic interdisciplinary support across our whole research landscape and environment, reflecting the rapidly changing nature of PGR funding and recruitment.
