Diversifying leadership secondments – pilot
26 Jan 2023
As part of its commitment to Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA), the Faculty wants to improve the diversity of its leadership.
in the absence of a formal mechanism that provides staff with opportunities to develop their leadership skills to meet the criteria required for many leadership roles, colleagues often find themselves unable to progress to leadership positions.
‘Diversifying leadership secondments’ is a new type of academic leadership development initiative that will enable participants to work on important real-life projects, supported by mentoring, practical training and bespoke personal development as identified in collaboration with People & OD and Staff Learning and Development. Applications are now open for the pilot which will run throughout the duration of semester 2 of the 2022/23 academic year.
Recognising significant underrepresentation, the pilot will focus on applications from ethnic minority colleagues.
We are looking to recruit up to three colleagues to each work on one of the following projects:
1. Case studies to enhance EDIA training: Work with students and staff to develop a series of anonymised case studies to enhance the EDIA training delivered to students and to staff.
2. Mitigating Circumstances Explainer: Work with students, the Students' Union, PS and academic staff to co-create web materials explaining the mitigating circumstances process. Use anonymised case studies to illustrate the flow of cases.
3. Case studies to enhance EDIA training: Work with students and staff to develop a series of anonymised case studies to enhance the EDIA training delivered to students and to staff.
For informal enquiries about the projects please contact Peter Green and Andy Weightman. For general enquiries about the scheme contact Mark Hughes.
Application can be made via the online application form. The deadline for applications is 5pm 31st of January 2023.
