Lynne Bianchi awarded Principal HEA fellowship
09 Feb 2022
Dr Lynne Bianchi, Director of the Science & Engineering Education Research and Innovation Hub, has been awarded a Higher Education Award (HEA) Principal Fellowship through the University’s Leadership in Education Awards Programme.
Here Lynne tells us more about the programme.
“The University’s Leadership in Education Awards Programme (LEAP) offered me a pathway to be accredited by AdvanceHE. The process involved creating a presentation aligned to key criteria which I submitted and then talked to in a 30 minute viva with questions to follow. Three assessors from within and beyond the University allowed for professional challenge which was steered positively and further enhanced my reflections on practice.
“Hats off to the LEAP team, who offered advice and mentoring as well providing opportunities for individual feedback and facilitating meetings with colleagues from across the University.
“I’m delighted with the award of Principal HEA Fellow which acknowledges a demonstration of impact at a strategic level and a wider commitment to academic practice and leadership in teaching and learning. It’s been a dedicated process that’s taken a few years to work towards but has resulted in me achieving something that I’m really proud of.
“I urge you to take a look and see if there’s an award level right for you and then take the ‘leap’ for yourself!”
Delivered by the Institute of Teaching and Learning and accredited by AdvanceHE, the LEAP awards Associate, Fellow, Senior and Principal AdvanceHE fellowships and supports colleagues in evidencing their teaching and learning excellence enabling them to receive a formal national teaching award. LEAP is open to all staff, ranging from colleagues who are beginning to support students in their learning, those for whom teaching and learning forms part of their role and colleagues who are influencing teaching and learning at an institutional, national or international context.
