AV familairisation sessions available throughout December, January and February

Audio-visual familiarsation sessions will be open to all teaching and learning staff ahead of Semester 2

Ahead of the commencement of Semester 2, a programme of bookable AV familiarisation sessions and drop-in sandpit sessions will be available to teaching and learning staff within the new home for Engineering and Materials Science throughout December, January and February.

Whether you find yourself teaching in a new room you've not taught in before or it's your first time teaching in Engineering Buildings A & B altogether, our sessions are designed to help you get to grips with any new AV technology ahead of your timetabled teaching.

These sessions are broken down across three room types, as outlined below:

1. Computer clusters (Engineering Building A)

The computer clusters throughout Engineering Building A feature double-screen monitors on each desk, with the ability to conduct dual-delivery teaching sessions so colleagues can cast their lecture contnet onto one screen whilst students work on accompanying applications on their second screen. AV sessions for these clusters are outlined below:

2. Blended Lecture Theatre with Dry Lab (Engineering Building B, Room 2B.020)

This lecture theatre features two projectors facing the front wall and seven screens positioned around the theatre walls, for colleagues to cast their sessions across the entire space to facilitate group work and breakout sessions within teaching delivery. AV sessions for this space are outlined below:

3. Blended lecture theatre (GA.056, Engineering Building A)

This tiered teaching space is equipped with hand/lapel microphones, control panel, projector and a wide projecting screen, with a layout that encourages students to interact in smaller breakout groups and facilitate an interactive learning environment. AV sessions for this space are outlined below:

For AV familiarisation sessions listed above, colleagues will be on hand to provide guidance and support to colleagues in using any new AV technology in these spaces. For any academic colleague attending a supported AV session, please arrive at the Booth Street East Entrance of Engineering Building A prior to your scheduled session where a member of staff will meet you and accompany you to the session.

For drop-in sandpit sessions listed above, colleagues are free to turn up and get to grips with the AV in these spaces for themselves, but support from colleagues will not be provided during these sessions. Academic colleagues are encouraged to visit our Induction platform and ensure they have the relevant AV guides available for each space prior to attending an unsupported drop-in session.
