Your Voice Matters – complete the survey

24 Mar 2025

On Tuesday, 25 March our new colleague engagement survey will open – the survey is confidential (delivered by an independent survey partner People Insight) and should only take 5-10 minutes to complete.

Colleague Survey

As part of the ongoing development of our Manchester 2035 strategy, we have recently introduced a new approach to colleague feedback with the launch of the Your Voice Matters campaign.

Your Voice Matters highlights the importance of colleague voice, showing how feedback from townhalls, local open meetings, surveys, and our Staff Networks directly influences our decisions and shapes the way we do things.

Colleague engagement survey

Our new survey will run from Tuesday, 25 March to midnight on Tuesday, 22 April. It is an important way for all colleagues to share how engaged they feel in the work they do, what they value most about working here and where things could, and should, be better.

This is your opportunity to be totally open and honest and tell us what’s working and what isn’t – the more honest you are, the more valuable this survey is for everyone.

Your responses will help us shape our Manchester 2035 strategy as well as a range of local actions, all contributing towards making our University a better place to work for all.

Key features

  • Quick to take part – it features a shorter question set and should take 5-10 minutes to complete.
  • You can take a break - it doesn’t have to be completed in one sitting, and you can start it then come back to it at a later stage. Once submitted you can’t go back and make changes.
  • Confidentiality - Everything you share will stay completely confidential as your response will go straight to People Insight, our independent survey partner, who are running the survey for us. At no point will anyone at the University, including senior leaders and managers, receive individual responses.

How to take part

  • Email - You will receive an email from People Insight
  • StaffNet - You can access the survey via a link on StaffNet – you will need to put in your Employee ID number (on your ID card) to access the survey this way. This is to verify you are eligible to take part in the survey.
  • Posters – Simply scan the QR code displayed on posters around campus to access the survey online.

Please note, you will receive weekly reminders until you submit the survey.

Prize draw

Everyone who completes the survey will have the option to be entered into a series of prize draws taking place every Tuesday and Friday whilst the survey is live where you could win £100 of Love2Shop vouchers – that’s eight opportunities to win throughout the survey.

As soon as you’ve completed your survey, you’ll start being entered into our prize draw – so the sooner you take part the more chances you have of winning!   Winners will be selected at random by People Insight.

What about the results?

Completing the survey is just one part of this process and the results and action planning is even more important.

We will share results openly and transparently and leaders from all parts of the University will have access to the People Insight reporting dashboard so they can view and share their local reports with colleagues.

Find out about actions taken

We've been running engagement surveys (formerly Staff Surveys) since 2013 alongside other feedback channels such as townhalls, open meetings and Staff Networks.
