Celebrating our graduates making a difference

Watch our short films showing how our Greater Manchester Graduates contribute to our city and beyond
Each year, over 17,000 of our students graduate, many of whom are already making contributions to our city and beyond through healthcare, education and protecting the natural environment.
Since our University’s foundation, social responsibility and delivering civic impact have been at the heart of our values, and our students play a huge role in this. As graduates many go on to actively contribute to social responsibility, civic engagement, and the sustainable development of society – locally, nationally, and internationally.
With over 45,000 students and 550,000 alumni, who we educate, how we deliver teaching and learning, and what our graduates go on to do as future citizens and professionals play a major role in creating a fairer, more sustainable, and prosperous future for all.
During the winter graduation, we asked our students how they wish to make a difference in their chosen careers. Watch our short films to see what they had to say:
- Students from the Faculty of Humanities (part 1 and part 2)
- Students from the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health 1 (part 1 and part 2).
- Students from the Faculty of Science and Engineering (part 1 and part 2)
Ben, from the Faculty of Humanities, graduated with a PGCE. He is now teaching young deaf people and hopes to inspire young them to believe they can achieve anything.
Salah, from the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, is graduating in Advanced Audiology Studies on the pediatric pathway. As this is a new field in Kuwait, he hopes to establish a practice to support children with hearing loss and hearing impairment.
Emily, from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, is graduating with a Master’s in Nuclear Science and Technology. She hopes to contribute to a cleaner environment for future generations by working in fusion energy.
