Old quad entrance to Whitworth Hall to be closed from 12 March 2024

As part of the ongoing redesign of the ‘Old Quad’ area on campus, the entrance on the Whitworth Hall side of the Queen’s Arch will be closed for two weeks from today, Tuesday, 12 March 2024, when access from the Chamber’s Room will reopen.
All staff and visitors are therefore asked to please use the Council Chamber’s side of the Queen’s Arch to access Whitworth Hall and the Committee Rooms. Signage will be in place to guide those affected and is demonstrated in a map. Whitworth Hall entrance will remain open as a fire exit only.
This closure close comes as the remodelling enters Phase 2B of development, with the Queen’s Arch reopening on Monday, 1 April 2024.
The project is being developed and delivered by the Directorate of Estates and Facilities as part of our Bicentenary celebrations, to reflect this historic milestone and our continued commitment to innovation and sustainability. Work commenced in January 2024, with anticipated completion by May 2024.
