Flooding on Oxford Road and nearby buildings
22 Sep 2021
There is currently extensive flooding on the Oxford Road area of our campus.

This is due to a broken water main on Oxford Road. The flooding is severely disrupting travel to the site, and has forced the closure of several buildings.
Estates colleagues are asked to report to work as their services are required.
The following buildings are currently shut:
- Main Library
- Students’ Union and Academy
- John Owens Building
- Alan Gilbert Learning Commons
- The Samuel Alexander Building
- Student Services Centre
- Stephen Joseph Studio
- Mansfield Cooper Building
- Whitworth Hall
Unless you are an Estates colleague, please avoid these buildings and the immediate area around them. Other buildings not on this list remain open. We will continue to update this list so please keep checking back.
You might also need to allow more time to travel around campus.
We will keep you updated on our social media channels, StaffNet and MyManchester news.
We are sorry for the disruption this is causing and please be patient as we work with the emergency services and United Utilities to resolve the situation.
You can also obtain travel advice from Transport for Greater Manchester.
