Robina Shah

Established in 2014, the Committee advises the Deputy Mayor and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) on the wide ranging and complex issues faced by the police in today's world and was the first of its kind to be set up.

Issues addressed may be those raised by the Committee itself, or those referred by the GMP, Deputy Mayor or members of the public and cover the day to day practicalities of policing as well as broad themes.

Commenting Robina said: "I am delighted to join the Ethics Committee at this crucial time, especially with its focus on integrating and sustaining core principles of ethics in policing. As former Chair of the Professional Standards Board at Greater Manchester Police and Board Advisor to the College of Policing, I hope to share this specific experience to further strengthen the Committees role in ensuring independent scrutiny of policing practice, behaviour, and professionalism. It is essential we build and earn trust with all our key stakeholders and therefore active collaboration, partnership and engagement with my colleagues, the police, and the community we serve will be a top priority."

She is also the Director of the Doubleday Centre for Patient Experience, Chair, Doubleday Medical Schools Collaboration (Patient Partnership), Honorary Fellow Royal College of General Practitioners, National Member, NHS England Assembly and NHS England Health Inequalities Improvement Board.
