Academic Advising Toolkit

This Academic Advising Toolkit has been produced to support all Academic Advisors in carrying out the advising role. The University’s vision of Advising is … one-to-one relationship that supports each taught student to make the most of their time at Manchester and achieve their full potential.

The Toolkit is organised into the following 3 sections:

1. What is Advising, and the Advising Model
2. Key student-facing resources, for signposting
3. Further training, support and development

In addition to this Toolkit, there are four other key sources of training and support:

1. The Policy on Advising Taught Students + Guidance on Advising
2. Online Training Course – compulsory for all academic staff
3. Your local Senior Academic Advisor
4. The online Academic Advisors’ Support Network (Yammer group)
